our training methodology
We specialize in engagement-first dog training.
Before starting obedience, we first build engagement in order to get a dog who wants to work. Once we have stoked that desire, we then get to work on obedience using an efficient balanced dog training system called NePoPo®.
Developed by world-renowned dog trainers, Bart and Michael Bellon, NePoPo® combines scientific learning theory with appropriate dog training tools to build clear and effective communication between the dog and the handler.
In this system, dogs become motivated to perform behaviors on cue, every time, with heart and soul.
Private 1:1 Lessons
During our private lessons, you get to be the main handler while our trainers guide you every step of the way to show you how to achieve the desired results.
This program is ideal for dedicated owners who have the time and commitment to put in the reps.
With our coaching, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of dog behavior and communication, and gain the skills and confidence to address your dog’s specific challenges.
So, if you’re ready to embark on a transformative training experience that will bring out the best in both you and your dog, take a look through our private lesson offerings and give us a call today to discuss.
CONTROLLED FREEDOM
Six one-hour 1:1 private lessons- You got a dog to join you on your adventures, but their off-leash reliability isn’t exactly, well, reliable.
- In this program, we will teach you how to build engagement with your dog and use the e-collar to communicate with them from a distance so that they can enjoy off-leash freedom on your hikes, trail runs, mountain bike rides and other outdoor pursuits.

ZERO TO HERO
10 one-hour 1:1 private lessonsThis go-at-your-pace program focuses on motivation and engagement, teaching you how to properly communicate with your dog.
We do this through on-leash work that builds focus on the handler in the face of any distraction primarily using food, and eventually incorporating play and praise.
By the end of the program, the goal is to have a fully off-leash trained dog you can take with you anywhere–from restaurant patios, on road trips, and on all of your outdoor adventures.
*Training tools not included.

Board & Train
Our board and train program is an immersive training experience tailored to your dog’s specific needs and your training goals.
Your dog will stay with us for several weeks while we put in the reps to train your dog.
During your dog’s stay with us, we expose them to ample training opportunities to practice new skills in various real-life scenarios.
From basic commands to off-leash recall, your pup will receive a well-rounded education that sets them up for success so you can go to your favorite activities together.
Upon completion of the program, we coach the owner how to replicate the training work once your dog is back home.
Board & Train FAQ
What does a typical day look like for my dog?
Your dog will stay at our training facility in Bingen throughout their board and trian. They are rotated throughout the day for training sessions and potty. During inactive times, they will either stay in their kennel or be back tied on place in our training room.
To break up training, dogs are taken in groups or individually for bike rides, fetch, or other play. Weekends are a rest period for the dogs where they are allowed to play together (if appropriate and always supervised) or taken on short hikes or bike rides.
When possible, we encourage owners to take their dogs home on the weekend.
Will my dog forget me or not want to come home?
This is a common question! We can assure you that after training thousands of dogs we have never seen one who wasn’t happy to go home at the end of their stay!
Keep in mind that your dog has been working hard and they are usually exhausted when they get home. Allow your dog ot rest for a day or two to adjust to the change. After a few days, they’ll be back to their usual selves.
Plus, if you live local, they’ll likely go home with you on the weekends.
Do you guarantee training outcomes?
While we cannot guarantee training outcomes, we do promise that we will do everything in our power to help you and your dog.
As long as our clients also show dedication and commitment to the training program, we make ourselves available via phone, email, or for additional private training sessions if our clients are in need.
We will offer our continued support as long as we see our clients are following training instructions and making the recommended changes to their structure and routine after dogs go home.
We feel that if we are doing our jobs right you and your dog will be successful, however success looks different for everyone.
Can I visit my dog during their stay?
We don’t offer visitation-only appointments, however dependant on how training is progressing, that dogs go home with their owners on the weekends.
During their stay, we provide regular check ins via text and email, sending photos and videos and answering any questions you may have.
What should I bring with me when I drop my dog off?
Once you book your board and train, we will send you everything you need to know in confirmation email.
The only thing you will need you to bring is enough food for your dog’s stay in a resealable container. We’ll take care of the rest!
Please don’t bring any bedding, blankets, or toys unless pre-approved. This is in the interest of everyone as we don’t have an easy way to wash bedding if it gets soiled.
Prior to arrival make sure to check the Client Portal to ensure all services agreements, client and pet forms and vaccination documents are completed.
